Finding our True North®

The Power of No

The Power of No

I don't know about you, but I love summer!  There is nothing better than the feel of the warm sun on your skin, the fresh smell of an ocean breeze and the enchanting sounds of nature's evening serenade.

Summer also brings busy days and even busier weekends.  Every year as summer fades I look back and wonder sadly "where did my summer go?"  I was busy but not fulfilled.  I have decided that this year is going to be different.  This is more than just a hope...it's a promise I made to myself.
So to put this in action I made a short list of the things I want to do this summer.  Some are family activities, but some are things that I want to do...just for me!!
The reality is that for me to experience my summer list I'm going to have to say "No" to others and this is not easy for me! I came across the blog "The People Pleaser's Guide to Saying No" by Jude Temple and found the tips super helpful.

Here's how to say "no" like you mean it (and without being mean):

1. Get the heck out of your head.

2. Get back into your body.

3. Meditate on what it is that you really want.

4. Realize the simplicity of honesty ... and be honest.

5. Delay and walk away.

6. Expect to be uncomfortable.

7. Practice, practice, practice.

If you too are a "people pleaser" click the link below and learn how saying No allows you to say Yes to the things that really matter.
The summer will still go fast, but at the end I will be able to fondly look back and feel grateful for all that I was able to experience...I hope you are able to do the same!

We would love to hear from you!  What are you resinated with you?  What are you going to do this summer...just for you?
