Several years ago I decided to buy 100% of my Christmas gifts from small businesses, specifically artisans. I did this because I wanted to support small businesses like mine, but moreover I wanted to give meaningful, quality, unique gifts. The major retailers all seemed to sell the same type of products and I wanted my family to know that I put real thought, effort, and love into the gifts I got them that year.
Since I started True North Beauty, I realize and appreciate the importance of buying from small businesses now more than ever. Every purchase helps keep my business afloat and lets me know that the product I made is having a positive impact on those who use it. Also as an artisan, I cannot express how meaningful it is when someone purchases something that I created and then gives it to a loved one as a gift. That shows me that they believe in me and my product enough that they think their family and friends will benefit from it too!
If you are out and about shopping this holiday season, I highly encourage you to check out Small Business Saturday. It is a day dedicated to supporting small businesses and falls on the Saturday after Black Friday. If you want to shop small, you can swing by any of these fine retailers to purchase True North Beauty! Each place is a small business owned and operated by local women! Not only are you supporting small businesses but you are supporting these women and their families in your own community! Simply click on each business below to find out their hours and location.

For me, shopping small business is not about being “anti-big business” because those businesses serve their purpose too, but it’s more about knowing that buying small business is supporting someone’s dream, purpose, and passion. But most importantly, you are supporting someone’s True North!
